I studied international relations, Australian political history and political theory as part of an Arts degree. I have been to university in the UK on exchange and have travelled extensively. This year, I have volunteered with community radio, working on a current affairs program for FBi and for the State election, I asked hard questions of Pittwater election candidates on Radio Northern Beaches. I have helped out with my family’s small business, giving me a first hand understanding of the challenges small businesses face. Having been a low-skilled worker in hospitality as well, I feel I have a balanced perspective on the needs of employers and employees.
I would like to inject some lively debate about the real issues that people care about. I’m willing to listen to people’s concerns and provide new ideas to the unaddressed problems in our community. The old parties have lost touch. The government needs to be held to account for their failings on housing affordability, climate change and health, among many others. I want a community where people can voice their concerns and have those concerns respected. It’s time we expected more from our politicians.
My main concerns are addressing housing affordability, improving health services and confronting drug abuse, modernising workplace relations without losing fairness, exposing the government to public scrutiny and helping small business.
I’m a well-rounded candidate with a fresh perspective and I will strive to listen to the people of Mackellar.
